Prof. Laura Lechuga receives 2021 Social Engagement Award from the University of Cadiz
The prize is given to companies and individuals who collaborate with the University in its social commitment.
The Social Counsel of University of Cadiz recognises the relevance and social impact of the research led by Prof. Laura Lechuga Gómez, head of the ICN2 NanoBiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group, by bestowing her the 2021 Social Engagement Award. This award is conferred to organisations or companies that carry out work in the field of social responsibility and former students who excel in their profession, contribute to solve social issues and do so in collaboration with the Academia.
The work of Prof. Lechuga –who graduated in Chemistry from UCA— in developing fast, easy-to-use and reliable diagnostic tools for COVID-19 and other diseases, as well as her involvement in the transference of technology to the industry, has impressed the jury. The prise consists of a commemorative sculpture, a diploma and 1000 euros.
The other awardees of this year’s edition are: Ecoembes (a non-profit organisation), Cadigenia (a creative training company) and Fórmula Gades (an association offering training in motor racing to UCA’s students).
