by Virginia Greco

Various members of the centres that are part of the the Severo Ochoa - María de Maeztu alliance (SOMMa) participated in this meeting, in which current challenges and results of previous equal opportunities programmes were discussed, and proposals for new actions launched.

On June 17, the ICN2 hosted the III Event on Gender Equality organised by the Severo Ochoa - María de Maeztu alliance (SOMMa), aimed at sharing experience, identifying challenges, and planning new actions. The discussion was opened by a keynote speech by Jakob Feldtfos Christensen, Founder and Director of DIVERSIunity, a company that provides training and consultancy services to research centres about how to make equality, diversity and inclusion work in international research environments and administration.

The discussion continued in three parallel roundtables, tackling each a specific topic, in particular: Effective communication of gender plans and actions; Using gender plans to effectively improve gender equality; and Mentoring programmes. The participants were encouraged to take active part in these discussions, whose conclusions were reported in the wrap-up of the event and will be collected in a document. A final discussion closed the meeting. The keynote speech and the closing discussion were recorded and are available in a video on the ICN2 Youtube channel:
