Bojos per la Física programme inspires high school students to pursue their passion for science and physics

The ICN2 was thrilled to host for the first time the 25 high school students from the Bojos per la Física (Crazy for Physics) programme last saturday. This programme, which is part of the larger Bojos per la Ciència (Crazy for Science) initiative promoted by the FUndació La Pedrera, was created with the goal of inspiring young people to pursue a passion for science and physics. Coordinated from the ICN2 and the IFAE, Crazy for Physics also involves excellent centres such as UAB, ICMAB, ICFO and Alba Synchrotron.

The students had the opportunity to learn about the cutting-edge research being done in the field of nanoparticles, a fascinating and rapidly-growing branch of science. Nanoparticles are incredibly small particles that exhibit unique properties related to their size, and they hold great potential for technological innovation and scientific discovery. The students were able to explore this research with the help of members of the ICN2 Inorganic Nanoparticles Group and the Electron Microscopy Unit.

During the visit, the students were given a hands-on experience with electron microscopes, which play a critical role in the study of nanoparticles. They learned about how these instruments work, the results they can produce, and how researchers and scientists are using this data to address some of the greatest challenges facing our world today. This interactive experience gave the students a deeper understanding of the exciting and important work being done in this field.

The ICN2 is committed to fostering relationships with the educational community and helping to shape the scientists of the future. By hosting events like this, the ICN2 is working to inspire the next generation of scientists and encourage young people to pursue careers in science and technology. The visit from the students of Bojos per la Física was a memorable and impactful experience, and it demonstrates the ICN2's dedication to educating and empowering the next generation of scientists.
