Prof. Arben Merkoçi tops Spain’s Scientific Ranking in Electronics and Electrical Engineering

This ranking, published by the international educational platform Research.com, recognises his distinguished research career at the intersection of nanotechnology and biosensor development.

ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi, head of the ICN2 Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group, has been recognised as the first-ranked scientist in Spain in the field of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, according to the international ranking published by Research.com. It is based on several key indicators, such as citations and publications in high-impact journals.

Prof. Merkoçi’s line of research includes developing nanomaterials-based biosensors for various applications, like medical diagnostics. It is important to note that this is the second consecutive year that he has achieved the top position in the ranking. He has also been included in the Materials Science field ranking, in which he is placed 8th in Spain.

This great achievement highlights the excellent scientific work of his research group and IC2N, which continues to establish itself as a world-leading research centre in nanotechnology.
