Great Success of ICN2 Open Community Day

by Chema Arcos

ICN2 opened its doors to families and friends for a day filled with experiments, educational activities and the chance to visit the Institute's offices and laboratories.

Last weekend, ICN2 held its Open Community Day, an open house day for the centre's staff who could bring their families and friends to visit our facilities. The event allowed more than 250 visitors to explore the Institute's facilities, learn first-hand about the researchers' working environment and take part in a range of outreach activities related to nanoscience and nanotechnology.

During the day, visitors were able to visit some of ICN2's laboratories and offices. The researchers explained their lines of research and showed the visitors their diverse technical equipment, such as devices, prototypes or microscopes. Several experiments were also carried out to explain some of the key concepts of nanoscience and nanotechnology and their many applications in fields such as biomedicine, engineering or materials science.

The Open Community Day was a very special opportunity to share with the community the daily work done at ICN2 and to promote interest in science. At ICN2, we are very pleased and grateful for the enthusiastic participation of the volunteers, and we value this type of activity, which helps strengthen the link between science and society.
