On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the ICN2 organised a round table held by women with different profiles working at out institute. Participants analysed the additional challenges introduced by the pandemic situation we are living in and its implications. The event included an awards ceremony to reward the best ICN2 papers and best Ph.D. thesis led by women.

Dr. Sonia Ruiz Raga has been awarded today by the L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" programme. She recently joined the ICN2 through the "la Caixa" Junior Leaders programme and dreams about creating a product to generate renewable energy, commercializing it and seeing it used on everyday life.

The ICN2 is involved in a series of initiatives to support this day to raise awareness of the persistent gender gap un the world of research. Some ICN2 women researchers will participate in “100tífiques” to bring science and the role of women in Science closer to young students.

The CoNVaT project dedicated to the development of a fast, cheap, portable and reliable test for the diagnostics of COVID-19, led by Prof. Laura Lechuga, head of the ICN2 NanoBiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications group, has been featured in a news report called “Beyond the vaccine” by RTVE. Broadcast on December 9, this episode of the “Comando Actualidad” programme was dedicated to the research about coronavirus (vaccine, therapy and diagnostics) currently under development in Spain.
